Let’s Talk About Passion (AGAIN!)

Kamu nggak suka? Well, bukan berarti kamu nggak berusaha untuk lulus secepatnya, kan? Semakin ditunda, semakin “sakit”, lho. It’s like pulling a bandage. You don’t like it because you know it hurts. But you do it as quick as you can because the pain, while it will always be there, will be over soon, too. Begitulah kira-kira analoginya.

When you don’t like something, there are three ways to deal with it.
1. You whine and complain all the time — which will bring you no solution. At all.
2. You stop doing it. While this sounds like a good solution, you need to think of what you’ve invested. Your time. Your parents’ money. Your relationship with your parents. I mean, you told me that you’re in the middle of your study. Berhenti, kasian orang tua yang udah bayarin. Diterusin, kamunya menderita. Which brings us to point number…
3. You stop whining, you strengthen yourself, and you do it as fast and as best as you could. Your parents will be happy. You will be happy when it’s over. And believe me, you will feel proud and tell yourself, damn, man… I am awesome. I can finish this shit which I never really liked! Imagine how awesome you will be when doing the things or majoring a study that you do like!

To think about it, it’s really awesome that in your early 20’s you already know what your passion is. But… what if I tell you that passion is …. bullshit? Wait, don’t be upset just yet.

Passion, for me, is doing something that I really like for a period of time, it doesn’t bore me, it doesn’t make me want to stop doing it, it makes me feel better as a person, and it makes me think there are no better stuff out there (well maybe there is better stuff out there but I am already in love with this one — sama kayak kamu punya cewek, dan menurut kamu cewek kamu kalah cakep sama Gal Gadot, yet it doesn’t make you want to be Gal Gadot’s boyfriend … you know lah what I mean wkwkwk)

If you think you like something, and think that it’s your passion, then I’m sorry. Maybe it’s just a hobby not a passion (yet). To think about liking something and actually doing it, and fell in love with it, want to do it again and again and again, are two very different situation.

Aku salut sekali. So just hang on a little bit longer. Berat memang, tapi bukan berarti kamu nggak kuat.

So, good luck with your study. Be strong, buddy. Not everybody got the chance to taste the college life. I am one of them.

  2. hahaha gue banget. disuruh ikut tes cpns sama ortu, nggak suka tapi demi bakti. Lulus, gajinya cukup gede (for me) bisa deh dipakai untuk hal-hal yang sesuai passion <3

bener banget alih-alih berontak ke ortu, mending cari jalan tengah dimana ortu senang kita pun bahagia.

    • lah sama bgt kasusnya sama saya, disuruh ikut tes cpns eh keterima eh lumayan eh yaudah gaji sebagian besar buat membiayai hobi jadi win win solution

  3. Ini bener sih… Aku suka gambar dr bocah. Akhirnya asal aja tuh masuk jurusan Pangan.
Awal kuliah masih ok. Tapi makin ke belakang makin bikin stress. Sempet jg sih kepikiran buat berhenti, tp ga jadi. Karena tahu, sayang bgt uang ortu. Akhirnya berusaha bertahan dan cepet kelar. Dan akhirnya, waktu lagi jalan ngurus skripsi mutusin buat gak bakalan kerja di bidang pangan. And yes, I did that. Meskipun sempet berantem, akhirnya ortu pasrah sama keputusanku.
Sekadang, jadi ilustrator freelance. Meskipun kere (penghasilan gak tetap bgt) dan belum bisa ngasih apa-apa, aku hepi banget! ?
